Hi I'm Yana

I’m the artist behind Riiana: a wife, a mother of three, and someone who found her way back to art, one sketch at a time.

I started drawing again shortly after my eldest was born. It began with digital art, then watercolours, and slowly turned into pattern design. Somewhere between nap times and homework, I realised I wanted to see my art worn, not just saved on a screen.

That’s how Riiana began. Every design starts as a digital mixed-media illustration, layering texture, pattern and colour, before it’s printed onto a tudung or shawl. These are designs you won’t find anywhere else.

How a piece is made

Every design starts as a hand-drawn illustration. I sketch it, colour it, and then work with our printers to bring it onto fabric.

I’ve always been drawn to the quiet beauty of flowers. They are one of Allah’s creations that remind me that life can be quiet and beautiful, and can bring benefit to the people around us.

Faith

Faith is at the heart of my work. Every design begins with the intention to create something modest, gentle and graceful: pieces that bring a sense of calm, and that let you feel beautiful while staying true to who you are.

For every day and every occasion

Generous coverage and fabrics that suit our weather, comfortable for school runs and work. I’m also creating classy, elegant pieces for formal events and special occasions.

Family

Riiana grows alongside my family. Between school runs and keeping our home, I make time to create. Many of my designs begin in those quiet in-between moments, and that’s what makes them feel like home.
